Be sure to head to FINAS to check out a free screening of the Japanese film, "Uneasy Encounters". The film consists of five episodes. The first episode sees a man stuck in an elevator with strange characters, while episode three is about Irie, a novelist, who finds himself accused of things he never committed and is forced to drink cat soup. Yep, be prepared for some bizarre scenes with this one.
Post-rock fans, hold on to your knickers just a wee bit longer. Mono from Japan finally descends upon our shores this Saturday. If you thought Explosions in the Sky was intense, Mono can definitely match the Texan band. They are supported by Forbidden Culture from KL and Elemental Gaze from Indonesia.
Also opening this week is Shanon Shah's "Air Con". The cast and crew actually premiered a few choice scenes from it at Urbanscapes to much enthusiasm. This is your chance to catch it in its full length. The story revolves around Chep and Burn who are both top students at an elite school in Kedah. The school is known for its strong academics and sports record but when a prostitute is discovered dead on the railway tracks, the prestigious facade that the school struggles to keep begins to crumble, revealing secrets. At KLPac this week as well is "Butoh In The Park", presented by Nyoba Kan. Expect an outdoor preview of "She Walks In Beauty Like The Night". An eye-opener for sure.
