Men in Tutus Preview

Thursday, 31/12/09 - 10:40AM Filed in The Arts by myra | Views: 2482 | Comments: 0

The last time they were here, Les Ballets Grandiva’s Men in Tutus won the hearts of KLites with a thing or two about serious ballet that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Local daily, The Star, even pointed out that their act was “toe-taly funny… most hilarious”. That was eight months ago though, and it’s about time that the “boys-on-pointes” are pirouetting on the Malaysian stage.

Hailing all the way from New York, Les Ballet Grandiva is an all-male comedy ballet company founded by its director, Victor Trevino. Earning a reputation of being the most spectacular, talented and hilarious all-male comedy ballet ever, the company boasts over fifty ballets in its repertoire and some of the best male dancers under the company’s wing. Direct from sell-out performances in Japan and New York, the fourteen Men in Tutus return to KLPac this January with one new ballet piece and eight new fabulous ballerinas… or should we say male ballet dancers? You can definitely expect a mix of brilliant dancing techniques, dancing mishaps, elaborate costumes and, of course, tongue-in-cheek humour by men. They will be leaping, prancing and twirling across the stage for six shows so don’t miss it!
