Among Great Apes with Michelle Yeoh premieres tonight (Dec 9)!
You’d want to tune in to The National Geographic Channel tomorrow night (9 Dec) to catch our very own Datuk Michelle Yeoh on a journey to the Borneo jungles. In Among the Great Apes with Michelle Yeoh, Michelle gets up close with one of the world’s most endangered primates, the orangutans, to learn about their conservation and their habitat.
Shot in Hi-Definition, the 50-minute documentary, by Novista Sdn Bhd, was filmed in three locations in Sabah: the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre (SOURC), the Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary and Tabin Wildlife Reserve. In SOURC, Michelle was given no special treatment. As a volunteer, she fed, bathed and helped orangutans at the centre. Michelle even braved a trail riddled with leeches, just so she could deliver food and milk to the outdoor feeding platform. At the next destination, Michelle observed a male orangutan in the wild, spotted pygmy elephants, climbed up a tree and made friends with the locals. Michelle’s journey ends in Tabin, a nature reserve where she bids farewell to rehabilitated orangutans that are released into the wild. “We truly hope this film helps raise awareness on the plight of orangutan’s in Malaysia and encourages more people to get involved in helping to secure a safe future for the species,” says Novista Sdn Bhd.
So don't forget to catch the premiere on Among the Great Apes with Michelle Yeoh, 9 December at 9pm on The National Geographic Channel (ASTRO Channel 553).
