Basement Jaxx Preview

Wednesday, 02/12/09 - 10:49AM Filed in Nightlife by yangching | Views: 4731 | Comments: 1

You simply can't go wrong when the one and only Basement Jaxx are booked for a DJ gig over in your backyard, can you? AUnderground producers and party promoters, Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Burton, formed Basement Jaxx in the mid '90s. Their popularity for throwing unbeatable secret parties soon translated into bona fide success on the charts. They have album sales of over 3 million copies to their name and are responsible for some of the most enduring dance tracks in the past decade.

There's just no denying the timeless awesome factor of songs like "Where's Your Head At?", "Red Alert" and "Romeo". The experienced act recently released Scars, their fifth studio album which has been gaining positive reviews. Featuring collaborations with some of today's hottest names like Santigold, Sam Sparro, Kelis, Lightspeed Champion and even Yoko Ono, Scars was described by BBC as a "frantic, surprising and addictive album".

Going back to their roots and toying with what they were good at ("big, uptempo club music" as the duo would call it themselves), Felix and Simon showed a return to form with tracks like "Raindrops", "Twerk" and the title track itself. Needless to say, they know what works in clubs and how to push people to continue moving through the night. When Basement Jaxx descends upon KL with their DJ set in 2010, we're pretty sure all hell (or heaven, depending on your perspective) will break loose.
