The Bloody Beetroots Preview

Wednesday, 02/12/09 - 09:53AM Filed in Nightlife by yangching | Views: 4104 | Comments: 0

This New Year's Eve, you've got Future Sound Asia to thank for your night out. Already building quite a reputation as a purveyor of gigs, they've been responsible for U.O.X Play Future with Steve Aoki, Sh*tdisco, Pase Rock and Stretch Armstrong. Their upcoming project will be any electro fan's wet dream.

The Bloody Beetroots has been touted as an amazing breakthrough DJ act that successfully fuses elements of rock, electro, punk, hip hop and classical music for sets that are unlike any other. Formed in Italy in late 2006, it is the brainchild of Bobby Rifo, with partner-in-crime Tommy Tea, The Bloody Beetroots is a project that goes beyond just your regular deck wizardry. Besides the fact that they both wear mysterious Venom masks when spinning, their Cornelius EP was the buzz of the town when it was released in 2008. The groundbreaking record integrated fashion (limited edition Cornelius T-shirts designed by French brand Six Pack), film (directed by Mathieu Danet, available to view online), music and literature in one tight package - suffice to say, it easily made iTunes Top 100 international downloads.

Commenting on their performance presence, the classically trained Rifo (he studied Chopin, Beethoven and Debussy for years) says: "There's an anarchy to it. I'm changing the concept of what a club is. For Bloody Beetroots, every club becomes CBGB." That's a promise we can't wait to be delivered come New Year's Eve.
