La Cocina Restaurant & Tapas Bar Review

Monday, 23/11/09 - 20:32PM Filed in Food by sarah | Views: 2560 | Comments: 0

La Cocina is a two-storey restaurant and tapas bar that dishes out really amazing Spanish nosh! Its unassuming interior and dimmed lighting creates a laidback atmosphere.

We began with some tapas – Chicken Croquette, Fresh Button Mushrooms (RM9.90), and Fried Spanish Mahon Cheese (RM16.90). The chicken croquette’s deep fried crispy crust and soft patty filling was appetising. The fresh button mushrooms, sautéed with herbs and garlic, was juicy and exquisite. The Spanish fried cheese was chewy and so rich in flavour.

The main dish – Paella Cordero (RM56) – is one of La Cocina’s signature dishes. It might seem a little pricey, but the portion size is huge enough to feed more than two. The saffron rice was filled with flavours absorbed from the herbs, while the lamb chunks were tender. Come dessert, we had Crema Catalana (RM7.50), custard with caramelised sugar that ended our dining experience in La Cocina on a sweet note.

What do you wish you had more of as a child?
Pocket money! I used to get only 20sen back in school.
Respect from my parents. I am my own person!
I wish my parents listened to me, instead of keeping to the idea that "children should be seen and not heard"
Attention! My siblings took it away from me. Grrr!
Freedom. My parents never let me go out with my friends.
Brand new clothes, not hand-me-downs that were ill-fitting!
Maturity to impress and annoy the adults with.
Time! Everything happened so quickly and I miss those carefree days.
Toys, gadgets and the latest computer games, because we kids were competitive about things like that.
I certainly wish I heard less of the phrase, "When I was your age..."
