Dreams in November Preview

Sunday, 01/11/09 - 20:33PM Filed in The Arts by sarah | Views: 2126 | Comments: 0

The Hands Percussion Team may well be the most hard-working troupe in the industry. In June, they chalked up, not just a personal achievement, but a first for the nation, with Kaleidosope: Hands Drumming Festival. Like its name suggests, it was the first drumming festival held in Malaysia and featured performances and collaborations between Hands, Wadaiko Syo, Mokaba Entertainment, Dhol Federation and many more.

Hands didn't rest on their laurels after that, and almost immediately went on a six-week tour of France in late July and August, spreading their love for Chinese drums to an international audience. Since their return, the team have been working on yet another production for 2009. Dreams In November promises to be yet another breath-taking live show from Hands.

Taking on the abstract subject of dreams, Dreams explores and taps into scenes from inner thoughts, hidden feelings, fears or ambitions. Using fantastic costumes, make-up, set production and of course, rhythmic and dynamic percussion, the production hopes to convey the sense of frustration of unrealized potential and of the euphoria of ambitions achieved. If you've never seen a Hands show, rest assured you'll be blown away.

They've cemented a reputation in the arts, winning many BOH Cameronian Awards. Recently at the 2009 reception, they walked away with best production values in the music category. Dreams in November will only live up to that reputation – just checking out their press pictures have us excited. We are expecting nothing but a surreal, atmospheric, heart-pounding show – a treat for both eyes and ears.
