A Homegrown Michael Jackson Tribute Preview

Tuesday, 28/07/09 - 19:58PM Filed in Music by sarah | Views: 3638 | Comments: 2

It was inevitable, but that’s not to say that we didn’t want this to happen. A locally produced Michael Jackson tribute is well under way and we’ve got Homegrown to thank for that.

To take place at Bentley Music Auditorium, A Homegrown Michael Jackson Tribute will see nine local acts covering classic MJ tunes. And the line-up is as varied as they come. There’s established screamo outfit Love Me Butch giving “Beat It” a metal edge for starters. There’s also the easily identifiable Pure Vibracion breathing some reggae life into the provocative “They Don’t Really Care About Us”.

Electro-rock band the Otherside Orchestra, always awesome to watch thanks to their customized performance lighting and effects, will be covering “Thriller”. Songbird Melissa Indot’s selection is the sexy track, “Dirty Diana” while Ferhad’s smooth, sweet vocals gets two covers, “I’ll Be There” and “You Are Not Alone”. Not to forget, 2009 KLue Blue Chilli winner, Jin Hackman, picks up the pace with “Pretty Young Thing” and then there’s psych/funk rock band Happy Nightmare covering “ABC” of all songs! Long live the King!
