Two, Three, Six Preview

Monday, 08/06/09 - 21:22PM Filed in The Arts by sarah | Views: 1047 | Comments: 0

Wei-Ling Gallery is taking art aficionados on a journey to the East Coast with Chen Wei Meng’s solo exhibition entitled Two, Three, Six. Named after the approximate measurements of the coastal line of Terengganu, from Kuala Besut to Kemaman in kilometres. Two, Three, Six is the culmination of an eight-month journey to capture the spirit and essence of his home state. On that journey, Chen filled 30 sketchbooks with drawings, photographs and recollections of memories that would provide the basis for over two years of work.

Born in Dungun in 1965, Chen Wei Meng’s love affair with the state stems from the years living and growing up in the small town. It is from his sentimental attachment that he has felt a need to document the ever-changing Terengganu landscape. To appreciate the beauty of Chen’s works, one must see them up close and personal—each blade of grass and grain of sand rings with life. Don’t miss the splendours of Terengganu seen through the eyes of Chen Wei Meng when Two, Three, Six opens in June.
