Alexis Bistro presents Hunny Madu Preview

Wednesday, 20/05/09 - 13:04PM Filed in Music by sarah | Views: 1674 | Comments: 1

These days, which media-conscious KL-ite hasn’t heard of Hunny Madu? The talented radio announcer-TV host now has an added feather to her cap—her eponymous EP, launched on 18 February this year. On this EP, she served as the executive producer and songwriter too.

Comprising a unique brand of hip hop jazz, her music has a distinctive energy to it while being smoothly mellow at the same time. She delightfully fuses jazz, hip hop and blues in her compositions and sings in both Malay and English. With a little bit of everything for everyone, we’re pretty sure even non-music fans would appreciate her songs. “It's a celebration of random energy,” she says. “Whichever genre it falls through, it’s music to me.”

Listening to her vocals, one can’t help but jive. Hunny has been making waves in the music and media industry since she she and her group, Admonition, came in third for a reality competition called Blast Off in 2005. She became a host on Astro’s Hitz.TV and has interviewed major international acts such as Gym Class Heroes, The Click Five and My Chemical Romance. She has dabbled in acting, playing the lead character in the show 5 Jingga.

She currently hosts the 8TV Quickie and is a radio announcer on Fly FM. And with her EP out, she is now a full-fledged singer-songwriter. The versatile Hunny will be presenting songs from her EP at this Alexis gig, so don’t miss out!
