Disco Paradis Preview

Tuesday, 31/03/09 - 17:57PM Filed in Nightlife by sarah | Views: 822 | Comments: 0

With virtually every club in the Valley kow-towing to the electro wave, one may need a change of scenery and sound. Introducing: Disco Paradis! An effort made possible by Ray Soo’s Love International label, Disco Paradis brings to KL-ites the sexy sounds of disco funk and deep house, with influences from classic disco tracks that any discerning clubber will appreciate. Love International has recruited three DJs to ensure a night to remember.

Ray Soo is of course, one of the three. He needs no introduction, having been in the clubbing circuit for well over a decade. From playing at massive raves to big-name clubs, and with well-known names like Carl Cox and John Digweed, he is one of KL’s most influential personalities in electronic music.

Disco Paradis will bring together Ray Soo with Disco Fusionteca. This DJ duo consists of female deckmasters Nuthiya and Chelsea J. Local girl Nuthiya has worked tirelessly on her craft since 2005, the year she enrolled at Royale DJ Academy. She specialised in funky, soulful and progressive house but has since expanded her repertoire to include electronica, minimal and tribal tech. Nuthiya’s been praised for her mixing technique and track selection which all adds up to an ethereal style—surely, to transport you from reality to paradis.

Her partner-in-crime, Chelsea J., hails from the UK and is at once a radio host, producer, music and content programmer and now, a DJ! Chelsea got her first taste of DJ-ing while promoting a 2-Step/UK Garage night. Realising that she had talent, and love, for the industry, Chelsea started messing with the turntables and this experiment has turned into a full-fledged career. She’s played parties in Berlin, Barcelona, Mykonos, New York City, Bali and now, Kuala Lumpur. She’ll be bringing her brand of slinky downtempo to Disco Paradis which, we’re sure, will fit in perfectly with the sophisticated look and feel of Frangipani. Check out www.lov-in.com for details on the upcoming Disco Paradis parties.

UPDATE: The next Disco Paradis takes place on 11 April at Frangipani. Featuring DJs Ray Soo and Funk K.
