Global presents Lovefoxxx Preview

Sunday, 01/03/09 - 20:48PM Filed in Nightlife by sarah | Views: 584 | Comments: 0

Put on your neon coloured tights and don your trendy Wayfarers because you’ll need them to fit in with the crowd at this party. Just when you thought the nu-rave, colour-clashing look was on its way out, along comes Lovefoxxx to bring it all back in again.

Lovefoxxx is the stage name of Luísa Hanaê Matsushita, the 25-year-old frontwoman of Brazilian band, CSS. CSS (Cansei de Ser Sexy, which translates to “I got tired of being sexy” in Portugese) was one of the bands leading the rise of the electro-clash movement two years ago when the genre started getting more attention from critics, music bloggers, DJs and radio jocks. They broke into mainstream consciousness when their song “Music Is My Hot Hot Sex” was used in an iPod ad. Thanks to the exposure, the song broke into the Billboard Top 100. Today CSS has the honour of having the highest-charting single ever by a Brazilian band in Billboard history.

No doubt their image helped to keep them ahead of the bands that crept out of the woodwork following their success, Lovefoxxx was commonly pointed out by many as the scene’s icon of sorts. Her crazy fashion sense translated into performances that were known for being highly energetic and absorbing, both on stage and behind the decks. Although they’ve garnered praise for their original material, CSS also made a name for themselves online for producing some of the best remixes in town. To date, they’ve remixed songs from a diverse list of artists—Grizzly Bear, Sia, Bloc Party and Chromeo are just a few of them. Let’s hope that Lovefoxxx will play some of their own remixes along with the electro, techno and indie we were promised in the press release. This is one hot, hot party that should be worth your time and money.
