Speedzone Tour 09
Every year when F1 season zooms around, the city buzzes with events, parties and concerts. The SpeedZone Tour has been a mainstay of the F1 season for years, bringing with it a roster of exciting DJs, from veteran to up-and-coming. This year is no different in that sense. To be held at KL Tower, SpeedZone Tour 2009 will see DJs Paul Oakenfold, Judge Jules, Ricky Stone, Tall Paul, Nic Fanciulli, Alexander Technique, Daniele Davoli and local talents Joey G and Eugene on the decks.
Paul Oakenfold is among the rare breed of DJs who’ve managed a successful crossover to the mainstream music market—remember “Starry Eyed Surprise” and “Faster Kill Pussycat”? Even Madonna counts herself a fan. Oakenfold opened for the Queen of Pop on her Confessions Tour as well as her most recent Sticky & Sweet Tour. With many numerous appearances in DJ Mag Top 100 Poll and his very own display case in Hard Rock Cafe’s Rock & Roll Museum, Oakenfold is a tour de force in the music industry. This guy knows the right buttons to push and it shows in his music—it may be trance, but it’s got enough pop appeal to be appreciated by the masses.
Judge Jules is yet another name that needs no introduction. A winner of numerous awards, amongst them Best International DJ at Dancestar and Best DJ at Muzik Awards, Jules has played in festivals and clubs the world over. But nowhere is he more legendary than on Ibiza, having birthed “Judgement Sundays,” one of Ibiza’s most popular nights to this day. When Jules takes over the decks at KL Tower, revelers will be treated to a taste of the party island. Up next is Ricky Stone, who should know exactly what an Asian crowd wants out of a party. Stone has been based in Hong Kong since 2004. He was also ranked at 35 on the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll 2008. Stone co-founded 852 Recordings with his friend, Jonathan Waller. (The label got its name from Hong Kong’s country code,) Stone has made it his aim to connect artists and listeners worldwide through music. Watch Stone work his magic when he makes his stop in Kuala Lumpur.
