Full of Charm

Posted on 02 June 2008

We’ve always believed that local talent is steadily becoming global competitors, and this belief applies completely to the fashion industry. One brand that has been growing ever so discreetly is Sofira.

Home Away From Home

Posted on 02 June 2008

We’ve all probably driven up Jalan Maarof, Bangsar countless of times without even noticing Jeumpa D’ramo. A white bungalow situated right after the traffic lights to Jalan Bangkung, Jeumpa D’ramo is a boutique hotel which has been open for business since the middle of last year.

Bike Boutique

Posted on 02 June 2008

Not your typical concrete-monotone bicycle shop, Bike Boutique is the first concept bicycle store in Malaysia. The shop opened just 4 months ago in Damansara Perdana. Be it for road use, mountain biking, or even for a triathlon, getting the right bike is utterly essential.

Tea and Sympathy

Posted on 02 June 2008

Tea and Sympathy is very wonderfully whimsical, pleasantly quirky kitschy. Hidden in a little hobbit hole down Telawi Street lies a shopper’s 7th heaven with renaissance flair and girly girl charm.

Setting Sail

Posted on 02 June 2008

After you’re done indulging in duty-free booze and cigarettes, and after visiting all the possible tourist attractions (and ridden the cable car… twice), the island of Langkawi, despite its natural beauty, can become rather humdrum. Bow to the Bow

Posted on 27 June 2008

With five labels and different web hosts for each, the Bow Group umbrella is a hidden treasure. But despite the apparent scatter, it is at the same time, very much closely knitted. Though predominantly an Internet boutique, its showroom is housed at the base of a stairwell that leads to its founders’ dorm-like living premise.

Dude & the Duchess

Posted on 27 June 2008

Rather hard to miss, Dude & the Duchess stands out from the average retail fashion store with its tasteful interior design. Framed by windowsills on either end the large wooden door at the entrance leads into a studio apartment; with a bicycle out front on the patio of mosaic tiles, a four-poster bed, a fireplace and dining table in a singe space garnished by living room plants, Matisse-esque propped paintings with brackets of kitchen utensils and ware.

Red Ribboned Days

Posted on 27 June 2008

Purchasing presents are essentially a strangely hard aspect of life, and usually results in settling for an unimaginative gift vouchers in the end. So, instead of gifting a product, how about an experience instead?

I Want My Popteevee

Posted on 27 June 2008

Hardesh Singh wears many hats: producer, composer, musician and most recently, British Council Malaysia's International Young Music Entrepreneur 2008 winner. Now, you can add new media mogul to the list. After launching Popfolio, an online music community, some time back, he is following it up with Popteeve.

Clothes, Music and the Kitchen Sink

Posted on 27 June 2008

Changkat Bukit Bintang is going to mean more than just scrumptious lunches and tapas and wine at night when Cloth & Clef rolls out this month. Ambitiously trying to redefine the entire street, Cloth & Clef is a concept store that is equal parts live music venue, bar, clothing boutique and art gallery. Yeah, that’s a mouthful
